Small. Meaningful. Shared.
Something small happened in one of my small group supervision sessions recently.
Towards the end of the session, someone said, “So… what’s your towards move today?”
We paused.
Each of us named one tiny action we were going to take on the same day, Friday. Not a grand goal. Not a life overhaul. Just one small move connected to something that mattered.
And something shifted.
There was encouragement.
There was warmth.
There was gentle accountability.
There was courage in the room.
No one tried to optimise it.
No one tried to make it bigger.
We simply witnessed each other’s intention.
And that’s where the idea began.
What Is a Towards Move?
A towards move is a small action that moves you towards something meaningful.
It has three qualities:
- It’s connected to something that matters to you.
- It’s small enough to actually do.
- It’s done intentionally.
That’s it.
It might look like:
- Sending the email you’ve been drafting.
- Stepping outside for five minutes of fresh air.
- Writing the first paragraph.
- Leaving work on time.
- Saying one honest sentence in a meeting.
- Texting a friend you’ve been thinking about.
Notice what these aren’t.
They’re not dramatic.
They’re not performative.
They’re not productivity theatre.
They’re small expressions of what matters.
And small is important.
When a move is small, it’s doable.
When it’s doable, you’re more likely to follow through.
When you follow through, you build trust with yourself.
That quiet self-trust is powerful.
Why Fridays?
Fridays have a natural pause built into them.
They invite reflection.
They mark transition.
They give us a moment to choose, rather than drift.
Instead of collapsing into the end-of-week autopilot, we can ask:
What would it look like to move, even slightly, towards what matters?
Not in a heroic way.
Just in a human way.
Why a Club?
Because behaviour is contagious.
When we see someone else make a small, meaningful move, it normalises effort. It normalises imperfection. It normalises starting before you feel ready.
Sometimes we don’t need pressure.
We need presence.
The Friday Towards Move Club is a gentle space to:
- Share one small towards move each Friday
- Say why it matters
- Encourage each other
- Or simply observe and borrow courage quietly
It’s not a challenge.
It’s not a competition.
It’s not a performance space.
It’s a ritual.
How It Works
Each Friday, I’ll post my own towards move on LinkedIn and Instagram.
You’re welcome to:
- Share yours in the comments
- Post your own using the hashtag
- Or simply take the prompt privately
The format is simple:
My Friday Towards Move:
(One sentence.)
Why it matters:
(One sentence.)
If you’d like to join in publicly, use:
#FridayTowardsMove
Make your move 50% smaller than you think it should be.
If it feels impressively bold, it’s probably too big.
A Small Invitation
Before this Friday ends, ask yourself:
What is one small move that would express something meaningful to me?
Not fix me.
Not improve me.
Not prove anything.
Just express what matters — in motion.
Small.
Meaningful.
Shared.
Welcome to the Friday Towards Move Club.
